I have to agree with the other moms-babies cries are hard to interpret and sometimes it just seems like they cry just to cry and know that we're listening.Joy@TPMGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13125789776241250430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1195788236766051950.post-63681452226042956462010-02-15T11:30:44.072+00:002010-02-15T11:30:44.072+00:00beautiful photo. babies cries can be so confusing...beautiful photo. babies cries can be so confusing and frustrating at time, but you get to recognise the hungry or tired or pick me up and hold me ones after a while. Not From Laplandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17165208811776097332noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1195788236766051950.post-5298651181562815442010-02-14T23:45:27.832+00:002010-02-14T23:45:27.832+00:00Thank you Cherylyn, I appreciate the advice and en...Thank you Cherylyn, I appreciate the advice and encouragement; it's good to remember that we won't become seasoned pro parents overnight.

The Dotterel & Young Mummy- pleased you like the photo - she's like a little elf in it! I remember one of my friends very early on, saying 'oh that's his hunger cry' about her baby and still being completely in the dark about what my babies' different cries sounded like and thinking I was a failure as a mum! You'll get into the swing of things - all your baby needs (apart from the obvious milk etc) is lots of love and you're giving her that in spades. xHeatherYhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08115621231402215956noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1195788236766051950.post-56889596583945747272010-02-13T08:03:50.350+00:002010-02-13T08:03:50.350+00:00That's a lovely photo... And you're right ...That's a lovely photo... And you're right to put some of it down to 'finding her voice'. Of course, a cry is a baby's only means of communication, but it's not always communicating the fact that something's badly wrong.

It gets better!Tim Atkinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00858684167484655029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1195788236766051950.post-20635427722176951232010-02-13T03:28:46.706+00:002010-02-13T03:28:46.706+00:00Lovely post. I think it's because of that steep learning curve, and it's something that you cannot possibly be completely prepared for. You have to do it to really learn it. Try to appreciate every moment, as I'm sure you are doing your best to do. Remember what is most important.

Babies will tire of the same tactics over time, and you may need to switch up your game plan as you go along. A baby who has been content to snuggle in cradled against your chest may suddenly rebel and want to be held face out, back against your chest with your hand over her belly (we've found that particular position to be very helpful with a colicky baby). A baby may also suddenly cry whenever you sit down while holding her, and prefer you to stand instead (this is when a sling or wrap is very helpful). Some babies prefer to fall asleep without being held, or prefer not to be swaddled, while others love being held tight and swaddled in the blanket. It's challenging, but you will find what works for you. Be patient with yourselves and with your little lady. Best wishes for your little family!Cherylynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10683110268816902044noreply@blogger.com
