I am reluctant to let LLC watch "In the midnight garden". I understand there is a theory behind the sounds and actions of the characters but was my generation (born late 70's) worse of for having "Sesame Street" and "Schoolhouse Rock" etc. I have been playing some of the old sketches from these shows to LLC on YouTube and she loves them. Will LLC remember 'Macapaca' in the future? Time will tell. Maybe I am getting older and adopting the 'in my day...' syndrome.desmondvoodoonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1195788236766051950.post-82325683181623164092011-03-30T00:27:29.178+01:002011-03-30T00:27:29.178+01:00Ahhh yes, Sesame Street. I did notice that difference about 'Ring Around the Rosies' come to think of it, but I think at the time I just assumed I could have been hearing things or it sounded different with a British accent - doh!Tanya (Bump2Basics)http://www.chatty-t.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1195788236766051950.post-49559462105615427342011-03-30T00:23:49.659+01:002011-03-30T00:23:49.659+01:00Some time I will have to share an American gem for...Some time I will have to share an American gem for you to teach Piran and your little girl on the way :)Tanya (Bump2Basics)http://www.chatty-t.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1195788236766051950.post-84646995099114375382011-03-30T00:23:09.356+01:002011-03-30T00:23:09.356+01:00I hadn't thought about it either until now! Even the ones you think are the same are slightly different - eg Ring a Ring o Roses is 'Ring Around the Rosies' in US. Luckily my parents had a record of American kids' songs when I was little, so I recognise some of them. And because I grew up in Hong Kong, I missed out on a lot of the British TV shows too - but I loved Sesame Street.....Nappyvalleygirlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1195788236766051950.post-86317790117394614742011-03-28T20:22:00.723+01:002011-03-28T20:22:00.723+01:00This was so interesting, I had never considered ho...This was so interesting, I had never considered how different it could be. My kids have been watching Rabbit of Saville, etc. And just wait until you go home and realize that, with few exceptions like Dora and Diego, they redub cartoons over here. Bob is from the midwest and the Backyardigans almost have different characters.AHLondonhttp://americanhousewifeinlondon.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.com
