Baby is actually in an anterior position so that's good news but I have had a look at both of these articles. My yoga teacher gave us some similar information about getting baby into the optimal fetal position; she would no doubt find these of interest. I think by posterior cervix they meant it's still high and hasn't started to shorten and move forward for labor. MW felt the baby's head and said that it's in the right place and in time should move cervix forward...

Kaitlin thank you for the positive thoughts!

Same to you Aunt Judy - and for sharing the story of your colleague. Though I'd prefer not to go down the induction route I don't want to lose sight of the fact that birthing a healthy baby is our top priority. With all the anticipation/waiting sometimes the emotion gets the better of me but I promised myself I'd think positively and not too hard about it all this week so I keep coming back to that.Tanya (Bump2Basics)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11190613569079236305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1195788236766051950.post-38710039884913983202010-01-17T05:19:08.993+00:002010-01-17T05:19:08.993+00:00Tanya -- I work with a very young group of women a...Tanya -- I work with a very young group of women and there always seems to be a "bunch" of them pregnant -- the most recent to give birth went in for her checkup (a week before her due date) and because her blood pressure was high (she is also 40) they decided to induce the next day. The last I heard she was in the hospital for an extra day (highly unusual around here -so they tell me- and I'm assuming she's home now). I know she did not want to be induced but she now has her healthy 9lb 3oz boy...her third. I've been having lots of positive thoughts for you too. I don't think any of her deliveries have been easy (big babies). Now you --- I'm hoping that as I'm writing this are giving birth! You really have a lot of positive feedback on your blog...very nice. I'm finding the websites they send you very interesting. NEARLY makes me feel like I'd like to be forty years younger and having a baby...yeah! This could be delaying the onset of labor if the baby is not able to get into a good position down in your pelvis. I have a couple of blog posts that could be helpful. One is about posterior babies and different positions you can try to get your baby in a favorable position for birth, and the other is a video that demonstrates some of these things.

http://mamasandbabies.blogspot.com/2008/10/when-baby-is-in-posterior-position.html

http://mamasandbabies.blogspot.com/2009/09/how-to-get-baby-in-best-position-for.html

I hope this is helpful :)Cherylynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10683110268816902044noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1195788236766051950.post-46049755080555353082010-01-16T01:59:45.325+00:002010-01-16T01:59:45.325+00:00I'll keep sending positive thoughts for a smoo...I'll keep sending positive thoughts for a smooth home birth :)Cherylynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10683110268816902044noreply@blogger.com
